New Scooby-Doo! Series to Explore Teen Origins and a Supernatural Murder Mystery

Date:

The upcoming Netflix series, a live-action take on the classic Scooby-Doo!, will delve into the origins of the Mystery Inc. gang during their teenage years. With showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg leading the project, the show will offer a fresh perspective on the iconic characters Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Velma. The series is a joint effort between Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Midnight Radio.
The plot centers around the gang’s final summer at camp, where their paths cross with a Great Dane puppy. This young, lonely dog becomes the sole witness to a mysterious supernatural murder, pulling the group into a chilling investigation. The official logline teases a modern reimagining that mixes classic mystery with elements of friendship and supernatural suspense, promising a compelling new narrative.
Each of the eight episodes will run for one hour, allowing for a deep exploration of the characters and the central mystery. While the project is currently titled Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series, this may change before its release. The production timeline has also been updated; filming is now slated to begin in early 2026, a slight delay from the original fall 2025 projection.
This new series aims to appeal to a broad audience, blending nostalgic elements with a modern sensibility. The youthful cast is expected to bring a new energy to the characters, and fans are especially curious about the casting of the young Great Dane. The show promises to be a significant addition to Netflix’s lineup, sparking conversations and excitement in the run-up to its premiere.
