The Beat Fades: Matt Cameron Ends Longstanding Role with Pearl Jam

Date:

Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron has officially ended his 27-year chapter with the band. Announcing the news through social media, Cameron expressed appreciation for his bandmates and fans.

Cameron joined the band in 1998 as a temporary replacement but quickly became a permanent fixture. His first major contribution came with the 2000 release of Binaural, which showcased his dynamic playing.

His time with both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden proved that his talent transcended any one band. Cameron was instrumental in preserving the spirit of Seattle’s iconic rock sound.

Pearl Jam’s most recent tour for Dark Matter was his last. With his exit, an era of stability and strength behind the drum kit has come to a close.
