Egypt and Qatar Boost Ties with Enhanced Bilateral Cooperation

Qatar and Egypt have pledged to deepen their bilateral relations, focusing on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as economics, investment, and labor. This commitment was highlighted during a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The discussions took place in Cairo amidst the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.

The two nations celebrated the substantial growth in their economic relationship, noting an 80 percent increase in trade between Qatar and Egypt in 2025. They emphasized the significance of ongoing Qatari investments in Egypt, particularly mentioning a project aimed at producing sustainable aviation fuel within the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

Additionally, the officials addressed matters of labor and consular collaboration, alongside regional issues, underscoring efforts to mitigate tensions and promote stability. They highlighted the need for continued coordination regarding Gaza and reiterated their support for diplomatic approaches to resolving regional conflicts.

Qatar and Egypt also underscored the critical importance of maritime security and the freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea. This focus is vital to ensuring the protection of international trade routes and maintaining regional stability.
