Vietnam and Qatar celebrated the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day in Doha, underscoring their growing diplomatic and economic ties. The event, attended by senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders, was an opportunity to highlight the expanding cooperation between the two nations.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep emphasized the development of Vietnam and the strengthening of its international relations, particularly with Qatar. Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1993, the two countries have broadened their cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, labor, aviation, agriculture, healthcare, hospitality, and telecommunications.
The economic partnership between Vietnam and Qatar has shown significant growth, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $423 million in 2025. This increase reflects a deepening business engagement and the exploration of further investment opportunities between the two nations.
High-level exchanges between Vietnam and Qatar have continued to reinforce their bilateral relations. Notably, Qatar’s prime minister visited Vietnam in October 2024, signaling both countries’ intention to further strengthen their cooperation and explore new avenues for economic partnerships.
The National Day celebration in Doha served as a platform to reaffirm the importance of peace, dialogue, and international cooperation, as both Vietnam and Qatar look to enhance their collaborative efforts in various fields.
