Saudi Arabia, Qatar Enhance Military and Security Collaboration

Date:

Qatar and Saudi Arabia have taken a significant step towards enhancing their security and military partnership, as the interior ministers of both nations met in Riyadh on Thursday. The meeting marked the fourth session of the Security and Military Committee under the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council, where both parties reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering cooperation in these critical sectors.

Qatar’s Minister of Interior, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Interior, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, led the discussions. The agenda focused on reviewing the committee’s progress and exploring new avenues for expanding bilateral security and military ties between the two Gulf states.

The discussions culminated in the signing of the minutes of the committee’s fourth meeting, which formally documented the outcomes and decisions reached during their talks. This agreement underscores the ongoing efforts by both countries to strengthen their collaboration in maintaining regional stability and addressing mutual security concerns.

The meeting highlights the continued thaw in relations between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, which have been working towards closer cooperation following the resolution of a diplomatic rift in early 2021. The enhanced coordination in security and military fields is seen as a strategic move to ensure both nations are better equipped to handle regional challenges.
