Leaders Confer on Regional Security: PM, Pakistani, Saudi, Egyptian Officials Meet

On Monday, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, engaged in a series of phone conversations with key regional leaders to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relationships and ongoing efforts for regional stability. Among these calls was a discussion with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, focusing on enhancing ties and Pakistan’s mediation efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region, particularly concerning the United States and Iran.

Sheikh Mohammed expressed Qatar’s gratitude for Pakistan’s role and the involvement of other parties in securing a ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran. He reiterated Qatar’s support for peaceful resolution efforts, underscoring the importance of all parties participating in mediation to create a conducive environment for negotiations aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region.

In a separate call, the Qatari Prime Minister spoke with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud. The dialogue centered on reinforcing Qatar-Saudi relations and reviewing regional developments, including the U.S.-Iran ceasefire. Sheikh Mohammed condemned a recent drone attack targeting Saudi Arabia, expressing Qatar’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures to safeguard its security and sovereignty.

The conversation with Prince Faisal also emphasized the necessity for all involved parties to engage with mediation efforts to address the crisis’s root causes through dialogue, aiming for a sustainable agreement that avoids future escalation.

Additionally, Sheikh Mohammed received a call from Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty. This discussion also revolved around reinforcing bilateral ties and addressing regional issues, particularly the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran. Both leaders stressed the importance of positive responses to mediation efforts to resolve the crisis peacefully and prevent further tensions.
