Date:

HAKONE, JAPAN – Hotel Okura Co., Ltd. has revealed plans for a landmark opening: its first-ever Okura Resort property in Japan, set to debut in the highly popular hot spring area of Hakone Gora in 2029. The project is a collaboration with Nishimatsu Construction Co., Ltd.

Hakone Gora, renowned for its abundant thermal waters and breathtaking mountain vistas, attracts close to 20 million visitors annually. The new Okura Resort aims to be the premier destination in this region.

“This is a destination like no other,” said Toshihiro Ogita, President of Hotel Okura. “We are excited to share our traditional omotenashi hospitality with guests in a place so deeply connected to Japan’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.”

The resort is designed by Tokyo-based Gwenael Nicolas and embraces a serene “Forest Hideaway” concept, utilizing natural materials and large windows to frame the surrounding scenery. The property will feature 58 luxurious rooms, each equipped with its own private outdoor bath fed by the famous Owakudani Hot Spring.

Guest amenities will include a specialty fine dining restaurant with teppanyaki, saunas, and a stylish bar lounge, offering an exclusive, high-end retreat just minutes from Gora Station.
