When Wildfire Smoke Creeps Indoors, Carrier Helps Keep the Air Safer

Date:

INDIANAPOLIS—Wildfire smoke has blanketed large parts of North America this summer, leaving millions to worry not just about the outdoors, but the air in their own homes. Carrier, a global leader in climate solutions, is sharing simple ways to keep indoor air safer—along with solutions built for times like these.
Smoke is more than a nuisance—it contains fine particles that can cause burning eyes, breathing issues, and even worsen heart and lung conditions. Carrier recommends running HVAC systems on recirculation mode, upgrading to MERV 13 filters or higher, and using room air purifiers with HEPA and carbon filters to trap smoke and odors.
“At Carrier, we believe every family deserves clean air, even during a crisis,” said Nick Arch. “That’s why we’ve developed technologies to protect indoor spaces when outdoor air quality plummets.”
Earlier this year, Carrier donated thousands of air purifiers to Los Angeles communities impacted by wildfires—one example of its mission to help people breathe easier when it matters most.
