This diplomatic push is set against a backdrop of continued Russian assaults. The Ukrainian President reported that Moscow’s “aerial terror” persists, with 96 drones launched overnight. He specifically mentioned a horrific attack on Kharkiv, where aerial bombs hit a city hospital, wounding dozens.
Ultimately, Zelensky’s message is twofold: while celebrating diplomatic successes elsewhere, he stresses that Ukraine’s defense remains critical. His call for partners to supply vital air defense systems is a reminder that lasting peace can only be negotiated from a position of strength, capable of deterring further Russian aggression.
