Kyiv Targeted by New Russian Missile and Drone Assaults Following Ukraine Attacks

Date:

On Sunday, a new wave of Russian missile and drone attacks struck Kyiv, resulting in the death of at least one person and injuries to 13 others, as reported by Ukrainian officials. These attacks occurred just a day after Ukraine targeted logistics sites and warehouses within Russian territory.

The Ukrainian capital was rocked by explosions shortly after air-raid sirens signaled the approach of ballistic missiles. Authorities confirmed that six districts in Kyiv were affected by the strikes. In the Solomianskyi district, an apartment building suffered damage, while fires erupted at both a supermarket and a residential property in the Sviatoshynskyi district. Additional strikes were reported at a shopping and entertainment center in the Dniprovskyi district, an apartment building in the Shevchenkivskyi district, and a non-residential facility.

In a separate incident in the central Dnipropetrovsk region, a Russian drone strike claimed another life. Meanwhile, in Russia, officials disclosed a casualty in the Kursk region following a Ukrainian attack. This escalation follows Ukrainian drone strikes on logistics facilities in Russia’s Moscow and Tambov regions, which Ukrainian authorities have linked to the supply of components used in drone production and navigation systems.

Ukraine has ramped up long-range attacks on Russian soil in recent months, primarily targeting infrastructure and energy sectors. This is seen as a response to continuous Russian bombardments since the conflict’s onset in 2022.

Simultaneously, Ukraine is experiencing internal political tensions after a recent government reshuffle. Protests have erupted in several cities for the third straight day, sparked by the dismissal of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. This move has led to speculation about potential broader changes within the country’s military leadership.
