‘Sheer Madness’: Netanyahu Slams Allies Over Palestine Recognition

Date:

In a fiery speech at the United Nations, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned key Western allies, including the UK and France, for their recent recognition of a Palestinian state. He described the move as “horribly wrong” and “sheer madness,” warning that the “disgraceful decision will encourage terrorism” globally.
The address was met with a dramatic display of disapproval, as delegations from more than 50 nations staged a mass walkout. The General Assembly hall, with a capacity for 1,800 people, was left mostly empty, highlighting a deep international rift over the conflict. Netanyahu remained undeterred, vowing to press on with Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
His remarks came just after President Donald Trump publicly stated he would not permit Israel to annex the West Bank, a move advocated by rightwing factions within Netanyahu’s government. Netanyahu avoided the topic of annexation in his speech, with a meeting scheduled with the current administration at the White House on Monday.
Targeting Hamas directly, Netanyahu issued a stark ultimatum to its remaining leaders: “Lay down your arms… Free the hostages… If you do, you will live. If you don’t, Israel will hunt you down.” He also employed a QR code during his speech, directing viewers to footage of the October 7 attacks.
