Trump’s Tariff Countdown: More Nations Notified as Deadline Draws Near

Date:

President Donald Trump has unveiled the next step in his high-stakes trade strategy: new tariff letters targeting additional nations. The move builds on an earlier round of letters sent to 14 countries, outlining steep duty increases.

Seven more countries are expected to receive similar letters this week. These communications serve as direct pressure on trading partners to renegotiate their existing agreements with the US—or face painful financial consequences.

In the midst of this flurry of action, Trump celebrated successful deals with the United Kingdom and China. A deal with India appears to be within reach, providing momentum to his economic reshaping campaign.

Though the deadline was extended from July 9 to August 1, Trump made it clear the line has now been drawn. “No extensions will be granted,” he warned, confirming that tariff enforcement will begin as scheduled.
