Qatar Chamber’s First Vice Chairman, Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, and Vietnam’s Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, recently convened at the chamber’s Lusail headquarters to discuss the advancement of economic and trade ties between Qatar and Vietnam. The dialogue centered on bolstering collaboration between the private sectors of both nations, seeking fresh investment avenues, and pinpointing primary sectors for potential partnerships.
Al Kuwari expressed the chamber’s commitment to fostering stronger partnerships and joint ventures between Qatari and Vietnamese enterprises, lauding Vietnam for its robust economic trajectory. Ambassador Hiep echoed this sentiment, emphasizing Vietnam’s eagerness to deepen economic ties with Qatar. He highlighted that bilateral trade surpassed $860 million in 2024, reflecting a $100 million increase from the previous year.
Encouraging Qatari investors to consider opportunities in Vietnam, Ambassador Hiep suggested sectors like agriculture, food processing, and halal products as promising fields. He also underscored the role of Qatar Chamber in promoting Vietnamese agricultural and halal offerings within the Qatari marketplace.
Additionally, the ambassador extended an invitation to Qatar Chamber and Qatari business leaders to participate in the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2026. Scheduled for next September in Ho Chi Minh City, this annual event is a significant global trade fair focusing on sourcing, exports, and supply chain collaboration. It attracts international firms and industry leaders from various sectors, including food and beverages, textiles, furniture, consumer goods, agriculture, and logistics.
