Tariff Block Temporarily Lifted: Trump Condemns Judges in Furious Outburst

Date:

The Trump administration has achieved a temporary victory in its fight against a court ruling that sought to invalidate the president’s broad tariff policies. An appeals court has paused the lower court’s decision, giving the White House time to challenge what it perceives as judicial overreach. In response, President Trump launched a furious social media attack on the judges who ruled against him.

The Court of International Trade had ruled that Trump’s reliance on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose tariffs without congressional approval “exceed[ed] any authority granted to the president.” The ruling underscored the judiciary’s role in scrutinizing the legal basis of executive actions, even in areas deemed national emergencies.

Trump’s social media screed accused the judges of being motivated by “hatred of ‘TRUMP,'” despite having appointed one of them himself. This fierce reaction highlights the president’s deep-seated frustration with judicial checks on his executive power and signals a protracted legal battle ahead.
