FIFA has renewed its partnership with the Qatar Stars League (QSL) and the Qatar Football Association (QFA) with the aim of further developing domestic football and strengthening professional club structures in Qatar. The renewed collaboration is part of FIFA’s broader vision to globalise the sport and create more opportunities for clubs, leagues, and players to compete at the highest level.
The partnership was formalised through the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and QSL and QFA President Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain. The signing took place at Lusail Stadium on Qatar National Day, ahead of the FIFA Arab Cup 2025 final.
Under the renewed agreement, FIFA will provide targeted support in key areas such as education and exchange programmes for club managers and agents, as well as mental health and well-being initiatives for players. The next phase of cooperation will focus strongly on educational programmes, combining practical application with theoretical learning.
Gianni Infantino highlighted that the partnership strengthens cooperation aimed at improving professional club football and praised Qatar’s continued role in hosting major international tournaments. He emphasised that shared efforts in education, knowledge exchange, and player welfare will help build a more competitive and sustainable football ecosystem.
Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain stated that the renewed MoU reflects the strong relationship between FIFA, QSL, and QFA, and supports football development at both technical and administrative levels. He also noted the role of football in promoting positive values and unity across the region.
Qatar continues to play a significant role in regional and global football, having hosted major tournaments and preparing to host future international youth competitions, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the sport’s growth.
