Qatar and Philippines Explore New Avenues to Deepen Trade and Investment Ties

Date:

Qatar Chamber recently hosted the Qatari–Philippine Business Meeting in Doha to strengthen trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. The session was co-chaired by Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani and Enunina Mangio, President of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), in the presence of senior officials, diplomats and leading business representatives from both sides.
Discussions focused on enhancing economic and commercial relations, reviewing the investment climate in both markets, and identifying new opportunities in key sectors. These included agriculture, food security, renewable energy, technology and innovation, healthcare, infrastructure, digital transformation, transportation and smart cities.
Sheikh Khalifa noted the steady growth in Qatari–Filipino relations in recent years and stressed that the alignment between Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Philippines’ Development Plan provides a solid basis for a long-term strategic partnership. He also acknowledged the strong contribution of the Filipino community to Qatar’s development across sectors such as construction, healthcare and food services.
Mangio thanked Qatar Chamber for organising the forum and said it reflects the shared commitment to implementing existing agreements and expanding cooperation. She emphasised the need to convert signed agreements into concrete projects and invited Qatari investors to visit the Philippines to explore opportunities on the ground and establish direct partnerships with Filipino companies.
Participants from both sides exchanged presentations on the competitive advantages and incentives offered to investors in each country, including those available in Qatar’s free zones and in priority regions of the Philippines such as Mindanao. The meeting concluded with a shared understanding that regular business dialogues and joint ventures will be key to advancing bilateral trade and investment in the coming years.
