Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and QatarEnergy President and CEO, Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, has urged the international community to prioritize energy security over political disputes. Speaking at the 17th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting in Riyadh, Al Kaabi highlighted the need for a global framework to protect energy supplies and infrastructure from conflicts.
Al Kaabi expressed Qatar’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and underscored the importance of international cooperation in maintaining energy security. He warned that regional tensions have led to a significant global energy crisis, impacting the flow of approximately 20 percent of the world’s hydrocarbon supplies. Attacks on energy infrastructure have resulted in billions of dollars in damages and increased volatility in international markets.
Emphasizing the link between energy security and geopolitical stability, Al Kaabi called for stronger efforts to safeguard energy assets and ensure reliable supply chains. These measures, he argued, are critical to sustaining the global economy amid growing regional tensions.
The forum gathered energy ministers, government officials, industry leaders, and international organizations to address issues related to energy security, supply chain resilience, and shifting global demand and supply dynamics.
