UN Chief Praises Qatar’s Key Role in Gaza Ceasefire and Peace Efforts

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has commended Qatar for its crucial diplomatic efforts in facilitating and maintaining the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He highlighted that Qatar’s mediation played a vital role in advancing peace and ensuring the successful implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
Guterres also expressed appreciation for the ongoing coordination between the United States, Egypt, and Turkiye in supporting the peace initiative and for the humanitarian role of the International Committee of the Red Cross in overseeing safe and humane detainee exchanges.
He emphasized that the United Nations and its partners are accelerating humanitarian operations in Gaza, with aid now reaching regions that were previously inaccessible for months.
