Cold Front Brings Sharp Temperature Drop Across Qatar

Date:

Qatar is set to experience a noticeable drop in temperatures as a cold front moves in following a low-pressure system affecting the country through late Thursday night and into early Friday. Weather officials said north-westerly winds will take over after the system passes, driving cooler conditions that are expected to last for several days.
The low-pressure system has been accompanied by cold polar air in the upper atmosphere, marking the first significant weather event of the season with clear winter-like characteristics. This shift in atmospheric conditions led to unstable weather across the country, including rainfall of varying intensity, strong winds, and hail in some areas.
Meteorological experts explained that the combination of a deep low-pressure system, cold air aloft, and dry mid-level air created ideal conditions for the formation of intense thunderclouds and hailstorms. These developments had been anticipated in earlier forecasts, and authorities continue to closely monitor the evolving situation.
The unsettled weather disrupted daily life and major public events. Persistent rain and strong winds forced the cancellation of several National Day celebrations, while outdoor activities in key locations were called off. Sporting events were also affected, with matches interrupted due to unsafe weather conditions. As the cold front settles in, residents are being advised to prepare for cooler and windy conditions across Qatar.
