Qatar has affirmed its role as a strategic partner in supporting landlocked developing countries (LLDCs), a commitment delivered by Minister of State for International Cooperation, HE Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, at the Third United Nations Conference on LLDCs. She highlighted Qatar’s ongoing efforts to help these nations overcome structural challenges related to transportation and logistics, which often hinder their economic integration and sustainable development.
During the conference, Qatar welcomed the adoption of the Awaza Program of Action (APoA) 2024–2034. As part of its broader commitment, Qatar is proud of its role in hosting the Fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in 2023 and is actively implementing the Doha Program of Action (DPoA) 2022-2031. The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) is currently financing two projects under the DPoA focused on enhancing food security and crisis response in these nations.
Dr. Al Misnad also highlighted Qatar’s preparation to host the Second World Summit for Social Development and the mid-term review of the Doha Program of Action in 2027. She reaffirmed Qatar’s dedication to international partnerships and its vision to place people at the center of development, working with global partners to create more just and sustainable societies.
